Leader's always have a vision. They can recognize goals that need to be achieved and do anything they an to strive towards that goal. It may be a goal that a team has in mind or specifically something that the leader has in mind for the team. They attack their goals with determination and always do what is best for the team. Leaders have commitment to their goals and their teammates. Leaders have strength and their vision helps them persevere for others. Leaders have a positive mindset and have motivation for themselves and others. They think about others and help them strive to accomplish their individual goals and team goals. Leaders let nothing get in the way of what is best for their team or what goal they are working towards. Encouragement comes to mind when I think of leader. It is important to encourage your teammates so that they know they have someone behind them at all times. Positive words create positive outcomes and leaders have a huge thing to do with the outcome of a team.
I agree with what Megan said. Leader's have a vision. They have a plan of what needs to get done for the betterment of the team and they work to achieve those plans. Leaders have learned skills and traits that provide them the ability to see what is best for the team. I believe that leaders are positive and realistic with their expectations. A good leader would not tell a team they could achieve something that was not actually possible. I think a leader will challenge and encourage their teammates to work hard to achieve the team goals. Lastly, a true leader will not use their leadership as power, but as a relationship with their followers; in which each one respects the other. Mutual respect between the leader and the follower will allow for many great outcomes as a team.
Megan and Leigha make great points of what leaders really are. Leaders are those who have a voice and those who are not scared to step up and be a leader. They are people who have very positive outlooks on things and always have a positive thing to say. Leaders as well set goals and achieve them. I think a great leader makes goals according to the team or group they are working with, realistic goals are what makes a good leader. Being able to set goals within reach of hard work and dedication. Leaders are able to inspire and motivate everyone, which is hard to do while on a team because many people are motivated differently. Being a leader is being someone who can connect to each individual and make a team come together. A leader sometimes isnt the most skilled or talented person on a team but leadership is a skill and a talent that not many people have, but having a good leader on a team can really make all the difference.
I believe a leader is anyone who can get a group of people pushing for one common goal. It takes several qualities for a person to accomplish this, but ultimately they must have a purpose greater than themselves or any individual. This greater purpose may not be the most popular thing to do, but a good leader is able to see what will ultimately benefit the group and can convince people to get on board. They must be humble and disciplined enough to always put the needs of the group ahead of their own needs so they are always willing to sacrifice in order to achieve their goal. I think that leaders must be prone to action. It is not enough for someone to motivate a group by giving a great speech. Rather, they must inspire the group by setting an example for all to follow. Leaders must be strong in the face of adversity because it is in the times that everything is going wrong that people will look to their leaders the most. They need to have strong values that they stick to no matter what happens so the group has something they can consistently expect. Also, leaders must have a positive outlook even when they are in a less than ideal situation. Their positivity can spread throughout the group and motivate people to continue moving forward in their journey.
I believe that the term “leader” holds several different meanings. Each person who leads has different strengths, weaknesses, characteristics, and motives. A leader pushes themselves and others to their limits to achieve personal and team goals. They help a team unite as one and grow into the best possible version of themselves that they can be. Leaders are willing to take on any challenge when give to them, whether they are prepared or not. I believe that a strong leader puts the happiness and success of others before themselves. Being a leader is not always the easiest job, but is extremely rewarding when they receive the outcome they desire and intended.
In my opinion, a single definition of a leader does not exist and also a leader cannot be picked out through one experience. I believe a leader is someone that holds any intangibles necessary for their team to succeed along with showing them through all accomplishments and obstacles. These intangibles may include determination, ability to motivate, poise through adversity, positivity, and many more. There are so many instances where the leader is mistaken for the person that is the most vocal or is the oldest/higher position. In some cases, the person that is trying to be the loudest or feels a sense of entitlement is also "trying" to lead. Efficient leadership derives from everyday, authentic actions instead of solely words. In my personal opinion, a leader that can provide actions of the intangibles consistently will be most successful with developing a relationship with their followers and accomplishing all team goals.
